Cosplay is a portmanteau word formed by combining the words 'costume' and 'play'. Though the actual act of costume play is much older but the actual 'cosplay' was termed late in 1984 when Japanese reporter Nobuyuki Takahashi used it after attending the World Con in Los Angeles.

The geek culture is like a magnet to many people who enjoy anime, video games and sci-fi. This enthusiasm has driven many of the cosplayers to find the beauty of this art form that allows a cosplayer to live their favourite characters.
